These instructions apply to Microsoft Excel 2007 as well.

Open
Microsoft Word. Click the orb in the top left corner as
indicated by the red arrow below. Then click the Word
Options button at the bottom of the menu screen
On the Word Options Page Click
Save (1) Then change the Save files in this format (2) to
read Word 97-2003 Document (*.doc). Then click OK.
All your Word files will now be saved in 2003 format.
